Most of us thrive when we can get outside and make the most of a day, but a lot of us aren't able to do that as much as we’d like due to life’s responsibilities. The Burton Northwest Trifecta is a way to bring retailers and friends of like minds together and remind ourselves why we love to work and be apart of this industry. We may spend a lot of time indoors, whether it’s behind desks, setting up displays, staring at computer screens, or slinging gear to fellow frothers, but we all got into the snowboarding industry because we love to spend time outside standing sideways on our boards. The Burton Northwest Trifecta takes full advantage of our shared passion for thrashing by heading from Mount Hood to the Pacific coast snowboarding, skateboarding, and surfing all in one day. This was our second annual Trifecta held in the beautiful state of Oregon. Being our second year, we learned a lot from the first year and were able to make a few changes to keep the day flowing smooth.

Andrew from U.S Outdoor grabbing rail!

First stop and meeting place was the Burton Demo center in Government Camp, OR. Thanks to all the boys there for helping us get geared up with some new 2017 products to test! Next stop was the campsite. We ended up finding a great spot down the mountain next to a ripping creek and beautiful foliage, and we had it all to ourselves for some shenanigans (except for Randy who was camped out looking for mushrooms…). I was on cooking duty for everyone and did the classic set it and forget it with the dutch oven. While this was happening, we got the brilliant idea of roping off two trees across the creek for a surf sesh! It wasn't the best idea…but it wasn’t the worst. Only real downside was that I forgot about the dutch oven and our dinner was a little crispy. As the night winded down, we all knew what was in store for tomorrow and needed to get a solid night’s rest for the big day.

June 7th, Trifecta day began! Quick wake up, food, coffee, and we were off to Mount Hood to start the day off with some snowboarding. Thanks to Ricky at Timberline, we were on the chair by 9am and next thing you know all twenty of us were thrashing and slashing. The weather couldn’t have been any better: sunny and slushy! Timberline ended up having a really fun park with an 18-foot halfpipe that everyone was ripping, Burton’s own JG was catching air, and Ty from Hillcrest Sports was thrashing the fun rail setup! After about six laps it was 11:30 and time to move on to the next activity. Next stop: Hood River skatepark! Our good friend and big asset to the success of Trifecta, Swifty--a local in Hood River--made the call on this park. We showed up and not a single soul was there except Colby Richards from Hakujin Cusine who had made everyone amazing bahn-mi sandwiches and delivered them to the skatepark! The skate session went off! Everyone cruised it, some thrashed it, but all said and done, it was hot as hell and time to get some waves!

JG focused a surfboard. This is why he is a legend.

This part of the Trifecta is the part that takes some thought and planning. From the skatepark were looking at a three-hour drive to Pacific City. Three hours in the car tweaks you a bit after snow and skate; some of us tend to cramp up in the cold water from lack of hydration. It was time to juice ourselves with water and whatever other liquids were found necessary. Upon arrival to the epic spot on the coast, we all suited up (big thanks to Willy Bean and crew at US Outdoor for gearing everyone up)! All of us made our way into the refreshing Pacific Ocean. The waves were really fun; most of us just got tossed around. Jeremy M. from US Outdoor and other standouts were making it look like Endless Summer out there and buckets of water were in the air. After about a three-hour session you'd think we would all hit a wall and slow down--not the case here, as our friend and photographer for the trip, Aaron Blatt brought his Honda 250, which we of course thrashed on the beach for a while, as well.

Jeremy trying to catch some air, but for most of us this is what it looked like underwater.

The night rolled in, our second campsite was once again amazing on beach front property. The fire was warm and cozy and most us were hitting that tired phase, until, what do you know, Aaron Blatt SNOWBOARDER Seniro Photographer and all around frother decides to pull out a full bottle of bourbon and another of tequila, burns the caps to both in the fire and whips out the guitar for a long night of singing and campfire shit talking. No better way to wrap up this amazing day! Thanks to everyone who not only made this possible, but made it memorable! #NWTRIFECTA2016
