words and photos: Michael Gonsalves

So, I turned thirty-years-old on July 16, 2016 and decided to take a plane up the pacific coast to Portland, Oregon, where I made my way up to Mt. Hood for Bode Merrill’s Double Quarterpipe Invitational. Forest Bailey picked me up from the airport and we made art together for a few days, then went to the Think Thank premiere where I caught a ride with some friends up to Hood. This is my favorite time of the year for Oregon, with the sun shining and everything so green and vivid.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get a photo with the MDQPI winners and their trophies that I made. I had to catch my flight back to San Diego before they announced who had won. I had such a good time seeing old friends and making new ones. It’s like vacation up there, all the time. Enjoy the photos I snapped from my adventure.
