The Summit Action Sports Film Festival set out in it’s inaugural year to highlight the filmmakers and athletes that work so hard for these mind-blowing movies. For three days in Breckenridge, CO the top films of 2010 were screened for audiences that ranged from filmmakers to fans.
On the fourth day of the festival an awards ceremony was held at the Riverwalk Center in downtown Breckenridge to honor the films, their makers, and the athletes that appeared in them.
The awards ceremony was all about getting together and celebrating in an atmosphere that combined pros with everyday Joes. Top skiers and snowboarders came out dressed in their best for an evening filled with jokes and camaraderie.
Fifteen awards were given away by presenters that ranged from Louie Vito, Nate Abbott, the One Life Crew and others. Highlights from the night were Peter Olenick’s ‘Beligum Dip,’ and skiers Colby James West and John Symms hilarious rendition of “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.” The random holiday cheer was welcomed, and it was the perfect way to cap off the inaugural event. An after party continued at Brooklyn’s Tavern where everyone reveled in the success of the evening.
In it’s first year, the festival had a strong backing from industry people and pros, and it will undoubtedly be back next year as an even bigger and bolder event.
Congrats to all the winners.
