What’s your thoughts about this weeks contenders?
The Think Thank posse have taken out both JTR Productions and Mr. Matt Roberge in fine fashion, but this week, they face their most ominous opponent in the Helgasons. If their following can match that of the Icelandic brothers and filmer Johannes, they stand a very good chance of going the distance, and they just might, ‘cause after making films for almost a decade, this crew has quite a large fan base. Though he’ll tell you that it is a collaborative effort, Jesse Burtner is the brains behind Think Thank. Since their first production Thunk in 2004, Burtner and company have changed the fabric of snowboard filmmaking by rewriting the rules. Think Thank is proof positive that great snowboarding and compelling footage needn’t be death defying, exotic, or the product of an astronomical budget. For the Superpark Sunday Showdown, Think Thank put this year’s two-disc epic Left Brain, Right Brain on the back burner for a few days to create an original short, titled 2 More, Skip The Last with a cast that includes Jason Robinson, Sam Hulbert, Nick Visconti, Ben Bogart, Sean Genovese and over a dozen other supporting players.
Every contender that has gotten into the ring with Helgasons.com has been TKO’s ASAP. Last round’s trouncing of Play Big Productions was a repeat of their first faceoff against 4 Reel, both victories garnering over 80% of the ballots cast. Johannes Brenning might not have his name on the URL but he has left his mark all over Helgasons.com. As the primary filmer for Eiki and Halldór, Johannnes spent last season documenting their every antic. That journey brought him to Superpark 14 alongside Halldór. This video is one of the most anticipated Superpark Sunday offerings of the entire Showdown because of not just the hype around Halldór but also because they were ambitious enough to actually release a teaser for this edit two months ago! So sit back, better make it full screen by clicking the up left and down right arrows below and turn up the volume. Oh and the baja pullovers are DC’s tribute to Cinco Dé Mayo as are the cerveza’s. And the throwing up in the trees? That’s how you know it is May 6th!
