Billabong Flaunt It, presented by Sony Ericsson held its first stop of the 2012 tour at Blue Mountain, ON this past Saturday. Girls came from all over Ontario, Quebec, and from parts of USA to compete in the TTR 3 star event. A brand new park was built and the girls were the first to ride it this weekend, as Blue Mountain used all its power and snow making capabilities to have the entire park built in time for the first Flaunt It event.
Ontario’s 17 year old Samm Denena from Mount St Louis was the Slopestyle winner, claiming the first place trip to California to compete in the Flaunt It Finals on March 31st at Sierra-at-Tahoe. Denena came from behind to win in the last 10 minutes of the Jam Format, with a clean Backside 360 to Frontside 540. Not only did she win the trip, she left with $700 Cash, a Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray phone, a 42-20 Nixon watch, Billabong jacket, Dakine board bag, Contour HD camera, VZ Goggles and a subscription to both Snowboard Canada and Snowboarder Magazine. To top that off she also took home first place in the Rail Jam with her front side 180 on-360 off on the down rail.
Billabong and VZ rider Victoria Marshall’s solid run with a Half Cab Indy on the first jump, to Frontside 540 was enough to secure her second place. Natalie Allport, last years QC Flaunt It winner was called up to the podium 3 times, placing 3rd for the Slopestyle, 3rd in the Rail Jam and winning the Dakine Best Trick with a backside 540. Rounding out the awards, it was Genny Ross from Haliburton, ON taking home the Nixon Style Award.
