MOUNTAIN HIGH RELEASES NEW APPLICATIONS FOR IPHONE AND ANDROID
Wrightwood, CA – November 3, 2010: Apple redefined the cell phone in 2007. Since then smart phones have become the desired method of personal communication providing users with the functions of both a phone and a computer, plus features like GPS and social media interactivity. Over 270 million smart phones were sold in 2010, and analysts predict sales to exceed 330 million in 2011. That is an extraordinary leap. Apple reports there are now more than 250,000 applications available, and over 5 billion downloads. On November 15th, Mountain High will re-release its application for both iPhone and Android models making it one of the first resorts in the country to do so.
The Mountain High app offers fingertip access to on-mountain conditions along with the latest photos, videos, and live cam images. For social media bugs, it provides quick links to Mountain High’s Forum, Facebook, and Twitter pages, and guests can upload photos from the mountain directly to their sites.
New for 2010/11 is a Terrain Park feed that keeps park rats abreast of daily changes. Weather Underground will provide custom weather forecasting, and guests who have lost their way can use the Directions button to activate their phone’s GPS navigation and guide them directly to the resort.
To help plan your vacation, there is information on lodging, lessons, and ticket deals. Tickets can be purchased through the app’s mobile shopping cart and, if you have one of Mountain High’s reusable tickets, you can activate it as well and avoid the ticket lines completely.
When it snows a red exclamation point will appear over the Mountain High button notifying guests every time there is more than six inches. And a new share button will let users share their favorite portions of the app with their friends.
Says John McColly, Director of Marketing, “Skiers and snowboarders are savvy and like being on the cutting edge. With our new application, their phones become the ultimate tool for navigating the mountain, booking the best ticket price, or finding the perfect powder stash.”
The application is just $1.99 and can be purchased through Mountain High’s website at mthigh.com or Apple’s App store. Android users can download the application by taking a picture of the 3D barcode enclosed, or search “Mountain High” in the application marketplace. Guests who already have the Mountain High app can download the latest version to see the updates at no cost.
Mountain High is just one of a handful of resorts to offer smart phone applications. Built by Powder Nation (http://www.powdernation.com) these miniature sites are leading the winter sports industry into a new era by placing the mountain and everything around it into the palm of your hand.
