PARK CITY MOUNTAIN RESORT'S FIRST SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL
TRIGGERED BY THREAT OF THRILLER SNOW DANCE
Park City, Utah (October 25, 2010) – Park City Mountain Resort's upcoming "Thriller Snow Dance" jostled Mother Nature into a winter weather cycle. The Resort received seven inches of the "Greatest Snow on Earth" in advance of the 2nd annual event. The Thriller Snow Dance, designed to welcome winter temperatures, celebrate early-bird season pass prices and jumpstart the 2010-2011 winter season, will be held Friday, October 29, 2010. Season pass prices will increase November 1, 2010.
"It's amazing how quickly Mother Nature responded to our Thriller Snow Dance," said Krista Parry, director of marketing and communications for Park City Mountain Resort. "We are honored that the mere threat of the 2nd Annual event has already resulted in a winter weather cycle, which is scheduled to stay in the area for the next several days. We can't wait to see how Mother Nature reacts after the Thriller Snow Dance is complete!"
The “Thriller Snow Dance" will be held on the Town Lift Plaza, located on Lower Main Street, in Park City. Practice will take place from 3-5 p.m. and the official Thriller Snow Dance will begin at 5 p.m. Participants are encouraged to don zombie and/or winter attire to dance to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”. Make-up artists will be on-hand to help paint faces.
According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm warning will remain in effect until the morning of Wednesday, October 27, 2010. In addition to the natural snow, Park City Mountain Resort's snowmaking team fired up the snowmaking guns for the season. Snowmaking will continue as long as temperatures permit. Park City Mountain Resort's scheduled opening day is Saturday, November 20.
