Over 500 of the most elite snowboard park riders and builders in the galaxy are set to once again expand the boundaries of terrain in trickery during the eighteenth iteration of SNOWBOARDER Magazine’s legendary Superpark session!
From the 7th to the 11th of May, 2014, Mount Hood Meadows, Oregon will provide the setting for what is regarded annually as the most progressive showcase of next-level snowboarding talent. According to SNOWBOARDER Magazine’s Creative Director Pat Bridges, “There is nothing stock about Superpark. The terrain is more challenging, tricks more innovative, and depth of talent significantly deeper than you will see at any other contest or photo shoot in the world of snowboarding. Frank April, Scott Stevens, Jessica Kimura, Sebastién Toutant, Jamie Lynn, Chris Roach, Dan Brisse, Louif Paradis, Danny Kass…the list of icons confirmed for Superpark 18 is all-time.”
While Mount Hood Meadows is making its debut as a Superpark host, they are joined in the venue creation by the seasoned terrain park creators from Seven Springs, Pennsylvania; Keystone, Colorado; and Woodward Camps, with the latter team being comprised of all-star snowcat operators from Boreal, California; Park City, Utah; Killington, Vermont; and Copper Mountain, Colorado. “We are honored to host SNOWBOARDER Magazine’s Superpark 18,” said Tom Scully, Mount Hood Meadows Director of Mountain Operations. “This event will showcase some of the nation’s top terrain park builders and riders on our unique and beautiful terrain. We are proud to partner with SNOWBOARDER Magazine to continue our long history of hosting outstanding freestyle events such as this.”
The global market leader for snow grooming vehicles, Pisten Bully, has entered into a partnership with SNOWBOARDER Magazine to be the official snowcat supplier to Superpark 18 where they will be debuting their brand new 400 Park Pro machine. “The building teams will use the 400 Park Pro with its enhanced capabilities to make their parks bigger, better, bolder, and more efficiently.” stated Pisten Bully’s Marketing Manager John Glockhamer, adding, “Pisten Bully welcomes the opportunity to couple with SNOWBOARDER Magazine to drive progression in terrain parks.”
Superpark 18 marks the ninth time SNOWBOARDER has collaborated with Gatorade to gather the resources to make this progression-fueled gathering happen. John Shea, Senior Director of Gatorade Global Sports Marketing explains, “Gatorade is excited to continue our partnership with Superpark again this year. These guys are out here early in the morning to late at night working hard to get the shots, which embodies the Gatorade spirit of being driven from within.”
For the second year in a row, SNOWBOARDER Magazine is bringing this exclusive spectacle to the masses with Superpark 18: The Webcast presented by Woodward. Super fans can get closer to the action than ever before by going online and watching two Superpark sessions live in real time. Superpark 18: The Webcast will stream from 1:00pm – 3:00pm Pacific Standard Time on Friday, May 9th and Saturday May 10th on www.snowboardermag.com. SNOWBOARDER’s own Tom “T. Bird” Monterosso will be providing both color commentary and off-color commentary alongside veteran play-by-play pundit Preston Strout, as they are joined daily by a handful of special guests, while keeping the online Superpark viewers entertained and up to speed with all of the action. While viewable from any computer with web access or any active mobile device, anyone who can’t tune in during the live webcast can watch each day’s replay in its entirety at snowboardermag.
With summer snowboard camps located at Lake Tahoe California’s Boreal Resort and Colorado’s Copper Mountain, Woodward has become the ideal spot to make your endless winter a reality. In addition to the on-snow training facilities, both Woodward locations include skateboard parks, indoor riding arenas, multimedia labs, and plenty of other recreational and educational opportunities. “The unique aspect of Superpark is that it is not a formatted or manufactured contest,” states Eric Rosenwald, Woodward Tahoe’s Action Sports Brand Director. “This is the highest level of snowboarding in its most pure form. The webcast brings the raw experience of Superpark right off the mountain straight to the viewers at home. Tune in and watch the level of professional snowboarding be pushed to the highest level as it happens, unscripted.”
In addition to Superpark 18: The Webcast, SNOWBOARDER will be producing daily recaps and video edits from Mount Hood Meadows featuring POV footage shot with Sony Action Cams, so keep checking back to snowboardermag.com and follow @snowboardermag and #Superpark18 on Instagram.
