2010 TEVA MOUNTAIN GAMES EVENT REGISTRATION OPEN!
March 3, 2010 (VAIL, CO) The Vail Valley Foundation is proud to announce that the 9th annual Teva Mountain Games, the nations largest outdoor adventure event, will return to Vail, Colorado June 3-6, 2010 and is open for registration. After record attendance in 2009, the Games will add two new Stand Up Paddling (SUP) competitions to the roster, along with the triumphant return of the IFSC Bouldering World Cup, which hosts world-renowned climbers at the only World Cup Bouldering event on U.S .soil.
The first of the new SUP events will be the raucous First Ascent SUP Surf Sprint presented by C4 Waterman where competitors paddle three miles down the icy runoff waters of Gore Creek, navigating drops, low bridges and class three rapids. The Sprint starts in East Vail and concludes in Vail Village. The second new SUP compteition, the First Ascent SUP Surf Cross presented by C4 Waterman, is mirrored after a classic boarder or skier cross, beginning at the Covered Bridge and ending 300 yards down-river at the International Bridge in Vail Village. Protective gear is encouraged as competitors will begin in a mass start and pilot through man-made and natural obstacles, including each other, in this exciting inaugural competition.
The newly added Stand Up Paddling events are fantastic additions as they embody the spirit of the Games by combining the challenge of paddle sports with the soul of surfing, said Michael Imhof, Vice President of Sales and Operations for the Vail Valley Foundation. These additions keep Teva Mountain Games on the cutting edge of outdoor adventure sporting events in the country and were thrilled that First Ascent and C4 Waterman are taking the lead this year in partnering with us to present SUP.
