From today, Rawr users who love to snowboard, ski, bike or surf can purchase unique branded items, such as sunglasses, snow goggles, fleeces, t-shirts, hats and moto goggles, to express their love of extreme sports. These items can be bought with in-app currency, which can be bought outright, and also accrues over time spent using the app. By hashtagging #VonZipper to Tim Rawr, the in-app chatbot, users will be gifted a free black VonZipper t-shirt for their avatar’s expanding wardrobe.
The in-app store is the result of an ongoing partnership between California-based eyewear and accessories brand, VonZipper and Helsinki-based Futurefly (www.futurefly.net), creators of Rawr Messenger. With monetisation a key issue for messaging apps, Rawr, which is the first product from Helsinki-based developers Futurefly, is inviting leading global brands to create a commercial (yet unobtrusive) presence within the app, and take the majority of the revenues created through the selling of special items. The VonZipper digital store signifies Rawr’s fourth high profile corporate partnership since August 2016, following formal launches with Chelsea Football Club, Red Bull and The Walking Dead.
Please find a press release attached which includes a quote from Brian Green, Marketing Director at VonZipper. Do let me know if you’d like to speak with Oskari ‘Ozz’ Häkkinen, Futurefly founder and Chief Product Officer. Below are some articles below which provide further context on Rawr.
