I'm no stranger to the fact that I'm not a professional photographer. I'm a writer through and through. However, when I first picked up a camera eight years ago, I was unaccountably infatuated with creating an image that I was proud of. Since then, I have carried that camera around with me (well, I've upgraded since but you get the idea) with the hopes of shooting something that people will be intrigued by or curious of. I guess that's my ultimate motivation, but in a way, I'd also like to prove my worth at the magazine as someone who can achieve mild success in both writing and photography, and I know I'll never be the best at both, but I'll be damned if I won't give it a try. I'm indebted to photographers like Espen Lystad, Oli Gagnon, Ethan Stone Fortier, Tim Zimmerman, Blotto, Aaron Dodds, Daniel Blom, Mike Yoshida, and Ryan Hughes (just to name a few) for always motivating me to go out and shoot more, because that provocation has always inspired me to continue to learn and strive for that perfect image, something that I know is hard to accomplish, but again, I'll be damned if I won't give it a try. I really hope you enjoy looking at these images, because they took a lot of time, patience, and a good bit of luck. Have a great winter and I hope to see you out there.
