It’s hard to think that almost a decade ago, a young kid from Québec burst onto the scene with an On Deck spread featuring possibly the biggest nosepress done to date and got the snowboard world talking. Fast forward to 2016 and Louif Paradis is the number 5 Rider of the Year and holds this year’s title of Jibber of the Year as well. And the latter accolade was more than well-deserved, as Louif capped off The SNOWBOARDER Movie: Resolution with one of the most memorable enders in recent history by laying claim to NBDs and once again reinventing himself as the best rail rider of last winter. Kicking his part off with a never-before-seen backside 270 pretzel, Lou’s part was no filler all thriller from start to finish and the judges took note. Fellow Resolution roster mate and 2014 Sochi Winter halfpipe Olympian Danny Davis agrees, stating, “His part in Resolution was incredible. His style and his choice in features made his part very fun to watch and made him my favorite rail rider this year,” while all-mountain sensation and multi-time top tenner Jake Blauvelt keeps it more succinct by claiming, “Makes everything look like buttah.” But always one to evolve his riding, Lou dipped his toes into AK this winter and stood his ground in The Last Frontier, as Finnish legend Eero Ettala noticed and praised Lou, saying, “Louif never disappoints. An ender part in the SNOWBOARDER movie and the best style in the business. I really like his creativity in the streets. His part was a great mix of stylish urban and pow riding.” Ultimately, Lou is in fact the “best rail rider on the planet right now, bar none,” according to Sage Kotsenburg but as he’s now working on his own project for release next fall, we can’t wait to see what Big Lou will produce this winter. Whatever it is, we’re nearly certain it’ll be yet another top ten performance, so get used to seeing this iconic name at this time next year, just maybe a few spots higher. Tabarnac, Lou!”
