New Year’s High Resolution – Mike Yoshida

Words and photos: Mike Yoshida At the beginning of every year, I get the preseason jitters and am so excited to shoot. The best feeling in the world is when you nail that first publishable shot that you can guarantee will run somewhere in the magazine. From then on, the entire year is based on whether you can better that first shot or not. I tend to keep my head down, always stacking, without looking back. Sometimes it’s hard to really keep track of how many shots you are stoked on, or in the worst case, how many you really blew. When the season ends and the smoke has cleared, it’s time to sit down at the computer and do a serious edit and review the year in photos. Only then will I know if it was a good year or not. Last year’s difficult snow season took its toll on all of us. Despite what was one of the worst seasons for North America, I think I came out with some shots that I am really proud of. Here are my top ten favorite photographs from the 2011-2012 season.
