Slovakia may be more known for producing cars than pro snowboarders but all that is about to change as 23 year-old Klaudia Medlova finds herself in the drivers seat of inbounds womens snowboarding progression. Building upon the momentum she wrought with her double backside rodeo 900 at the 2015 Nine Queens Klaudia barnstormed the park circuit last winter earning a handful of podiums and stacking for a season edit that would garner her accolades from the likes of Marie-France Roy, Louif Paradis, Peter Line and more. 2014 Snowboarder Womens Rider Of The Year Jess Kimura explains “I was blown away by the video part Klaudia put out. She rides with explosive power and confidence that is really impressive and really fun to watch.” Sochi Olympic Gold Medallist and recent star of Dayumm Sage Kotsenberg agree’s adding “Here is a girl who truly rides like a guy in a very good way. Double corks, back 180’s on to handrails and an impressive contest season is just the start to her career.” While Sage may be highlighting her backside 180’s it was Klaudia’s frontside 1080’s at both the Nine Queens and Spencer O’Briens Views From The 7th session in Whistler that had most people talking in 2016. The ability to poke with ease and land with poise, regardless of the size of the feature or difficulty of maneuver is what distinguishes Medlova. Even switch spins and roast beef grabs don’t appear to cause the Balkan boarder to balk. Now that Big Air is in the Olympics and Women’s Big Air is an X Games discipline Klaudia’s career is likely to stay in high gear.
