Matteo Soltane. Style beyond his years.
Phil Hansen. Pole jam to bonk.
The day we arrived, there was a fresh blanket of powder, and we made quick work of clearing off the jibs. We started off with the pole jam feature that escalated when Phil stacked multiple trash cans to ollie over. There was a mess of tiny rails that eventually led into a down bar that Mikey, Matteo and Phil were dancing on. A slew of cool combos went down on those rails, and after that session we moved onto a big hitching post style tube. The post was set up to slide from an angle, and Aaron Cardwell and Phil went to work, sliding back lips and nosepresses on it. Burtner and Matteo threw down a little doubles action with Jesse blunt sliding the top, and Matteo shooting the duck under.
Meanwhile Mikey was sent up top to build a jump that was to be the grand finale of our shoot. At this point it was snowing almost 2 inches per hour, and needless to say my flash gear and lenses were done. I had just enough in me to shoot Mikey’s mini step down, and it was a classic one and done scenario.
As we rolled down the hill at the end of the day, we navigated a little low tide powder/ crust layer, and entertained ourselves with tomahawks and snapchats. We were snap gods that day. By the time you read this, Snoqualmie will already be open, so get up there and enjoy the snow that has returned to the northwest.
