Double Minipipe Session at Mammoth Mountain—Oakley Team Week Highlights

As the season winds down, everyone wants to squeeze in their final sessions and earlier this month, the Oakley Snowboarding crew doubled down on that idea and did exactly that. Hosting their team at Mammoth Mountain for a week of sessions under the California sun, Eero Ettala, Sage Kotsenburg, Judd Henkes, Seb Toots, Stale Sandbech, Craig McMorris, Sy Moran, Asher Humphreys, Rene Rinnekangas, Craig Gouweloos, and more lapped the Main Park, as well as the creative double-minipipe built for their enjoyment. The setup was about as stacked as the team, and with the weather holding in the mid-40s the entire week, they couldn’t have asked for better time. Early morning slush laps followed by sunset shoots at the end of the day, to say the stoke was high would be an understatement.

Capping the week off with an event filled Saturday and Sunday, the Oakley crew hosted a free double minipipe contest for the patrons of Mammoth’s pistes, as well as a pondskim for the whole resort.. Complete with a frontside and backside hip entry, multiple coping hits, and a snowcat-sized gap with a flat rail across, the possibilities on the double minipipe were endless. Sy Moran sent massive cripplers over gap while Eero Ettala chose the rail route, backed up by Rene planting the tire feature towards the bottom and Judd sending huge bs 360s off the hip.

Over 80 riders joined the pros to session the feature built by TJ Dawoud and the Unbound crew for the better part of Saturday. When the lifts stopped turning, riders stayed and hiked until the plug was pulled on the music and the final call was given.

Huge thanks to Mammoth and Oakley for having us, we can’t wait to do it all over again next year!
