Mountain Goat: Kimmy Fasani

One of backcountry's foremost females, Kimmy Fasani got her start, like many others, wearing contest bibs and dropping into jump lines, but it wasn't until she stepped out of bounds that her tenacity for turning was able to truly shine. The Eastern Sierra surrounding Kimmy's home in Mammoth Lakes has always provided an ample training ground for this dedicated boarder, who spent seasons shooting with Standard Films in the Whistler backcountry before linking up with the TransWorld Snowboarding crew as the lone leading lady in Origins.

With Kimmy, each and every carve is loaded with poise, no matter if she's popping pillows or dropping steeps; regardless of terrain, her dedication to her craft is evident. In 2016, Kimmy made her first foray to the technical faces of Alaska, joining Nicolas Müller and Manuel Diaz in notching descents. She held her own alongside two of the most AK-experienced riders, expertly navigating The Final Frontier and further proving her status as a bonafide Mountain GOAT. The resulting footage was woven into a banner backcountry video part in Absinthe's Now/Here, earning Fasani not only Women's Video Part of the Year but also Women's Rider of the Year, an award longtime coming to this prolific powderhound.

But Kimmy's ability to snowboard is only part of the reason why she is a de facto member of this hallowed list and why her legacy is lasting. When not stacking footage of her own, Kimmy puts time into ensuring that up-and-coming female riders are also provided opportunity, first through hosting freestyle phenoms at Mammoth Mountain for her Amusement Park event and now introducing the next generation of women to the off-piste via Amusement MTN. Kimmy has already accomplished so much, yet she shows no sign of slowing down and despite a stack of summits under her belt, this charger is far from the peak of her influence.
