Bryan thought it was a bad idea to try and put on a race and premiere with two weeks notice, I was over confident… but he was probably right. Trying to build an entire course the day before in a total blizzard was a bit hectic, but we had a small army of dudes show up to help dig rather than take powder laps on one of the best days of the year (Thanks boys!). But it all worked itself out. We had about 200 people show up race ready for a new head-to-head format.
Bacon was Traegered on hill and one by one, participants were knocked out of the race with each winner advancing to their next bracket. The man-on-man action made for great spectating and high energy crashes. Thanks to everyone who signed up blindly, not knowing what to expect, and trusting us to bring it all together. That night we rented out an Old Stone Church for the awards and the “world” premiere of The Drink Water Media House newest film, Energy. It was a full house and people even hooted and hollered, which is rare for a snowboard premiere these days. Java even flew up for the event and didn’t get hurt… so all around the weekend was a success.
