Last winter, an all-time collaboration occurred. Three of snowboarding’s most distinctive rising lensmen banded together to bring their synchronic vision to the big screen: Jon Stark, Eli Olson, and Roobs pooled their collective creativity with an all-time crew of riders dedicated to bringing a formatively fringe sensibility into the center of snowboarding’s collective consciousness. The timing couldn’t have been better: the Rendered Useless crew, made up heavily, but not solely of East Coasters, was gifted with one of the best winters on record in New England, allowing for the tackling of Atlantic seaboard street spots like never before, an event which only further facilitated the grip of clips that Rendered was already hell bent on stacking. Mother Nature aside, make no mistake, Rendered Useless is not a uni-coastal movie, though its ideology is distinctively DIY. The Midwest’s finest Dan “Vinny” Vinzant, Jake Olson-Elm, and Ethan Deiss join heavy hitters from New England like Mike Ravelson, Ian Boll and Mary Rand, as well as up and coming riders like Parker Szumowski, Cole Navin, Bar Dadon, Miles Fallon, Jayell White, Andrew Aldridge, Christian Buling, and Nick Doucette, and the group is topped off with West Coast natives Johnny Brady, Jordan Morse, Jesse Gouveia, Jacob Krugmire, and Zander Blackmon. Rendered’s line up is proper.

Over the course of the season, few movie projects prompted the amount of chatter that surrounded Rendered Useless. Up and comers bagging heavy shots, spots being settled, rails that Vinny had wallied onto…a steady stream of appropriate buzz kept churning as the snow kept falling and as the season warmed into summer, anticipation for this film project grew even more. In continued testament to this crew, the teaser lives up to the hype, and then some.
