Rider Profile: Garrett Warnick

When I was a Mammoth local, Garrett “Worm” Warnick always seemed to be around and every one of the more high profile kids fully had his back. Tyler Flanagan, Trevor Jacob, Greg Bretz, and everybody else would bring his name up whenever SNOWBOARDER was putting together grom shoots. Being around those other riders it would make sense that Worm had to develop his own style and try to have a different take on tricks. This was smart. Worm wasn’t gonna “out-stunt” Trevor or soar higher than Greg on transition or string together a jump line like Tyler. As it turns out, Worm took the best from each of his colleagues and created a fluid yet powerful and slightly quirky archetype of what the rider’s rider of tomorrow looks like today. He was riding an Artec at The Launch at Park City being chased by a helicopter when he really started to shine. – Pat Bridges
