Chloe Kim Named To Time’s 100 Most Influential People of The Year

As if throwing out the first pitch at the Los Angeles Dodgers’ game and being interviewed by multiple late night shows wasn’t enough, Chloe Kim was recently named to Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of The Year list. We normally don’t report on other magazines accolades but we also can’t think of any other time a snowboarder has been named to Time Magazine’s 100. With current cultural icons (Cardi B, Issa Rae, and Trevor Noah), fellow athletes (Kevin Durant, JJ Watt, and Adam Rippon), and leaders in science and politics (Donald Trump, Carl June, and Peggy Whitson) dawning the highly celebrated group, not many 18-year-olds can put that credit on their resume. Not to say Chloe’s resume wasn’t already impressive on its own, earning Olympic and countless other gold’s before her 18th birthday, but this is pretty special.

Sharing the list with the students that are fighting for more stringent gun laws, doctors that are making strides in groundbreaking work on chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), and the most important authors of our current time period, it is an incredible feat for a snowboarder to break into the mainstream culture’s conscious and leave such a lasting impression. Chloe has already put herself into the history books of snowboarding, and now, maybe her well documented love of churros and back-to-back 1080s will go down in everyone else’s as well.
