Cranmore's Terrain Parks Designed by Top Park Experts
NORTH CONWAY, NH – Cranmore's terrain parks have long been known by locals to be the best in Mount Washington Valley, NH. But with training and tutelage from industry leader Snow Park Technologies (the people who design for the X Games and Vans Cup), Cranmore's park crew build three customized terrain parks each winter — parks that are recognized as among the best in the region.
And as part of Cranmore's recent $6 million facelift under new ownership announced last summer, the Darkside will be better than ever with a big investment in new snowmaking for the park. "We put in 24 new tower guns as we ramp up snowmaking for the season. This will increase our productivity in the park. This goes along with the new water line we installed which will allow us to make more snow earlier for the Park," said Johnny Mersereau, Snow Surfaces Manager.
"We're really excited about the new upgrades. We look forward to putting out one of the best parks to date, " stated Terrain Park Supervisor Jess Richitelli. "We also brought on a new park builder/groomer, Elliot Hughes, who previously worked as a park groomer at Breckenridge and at ski resorts in Australia."
And you know you've found your place on the map when Transworld Snowboarding, the nation's leading snowboard publication, included Cranmore as one of the few mountains it featured in its 2010 East Coast photo shoot and video. Featuring some of the country's best riders sponsored by Forum Snowboards, the shoot is now featured in the pages of Transworld and in Forum's newest movie.
Lucky Loop [Beginner's Luck Trail]
Geared For: The absolute newbie. With jibs no higher than one to two feet off the ground, the risk (and fear) of trying new techniques is minimal.
Inside Scoop: The park is serviced on the weekends and vacations by the Lucky Loop Handle Tow, bringing you directly back to the park—no need to repeatedly load and unload the South Quad to ride back down Beginner's Luck.
Other Side [South Slope]
Geared For: The superstar waiting for his turn to shine. Get comfy on these features and you'll be tearing it up with the big boys (and girls) in no time.
Inside Scoop: Locals' slang term for the Other Side is the "Mini-shred," so if someone asks you along, they just want you to come practice some skills on this South Slope park. With the new Quad installed on the South Slope, you can access this park easier than ever.
Darkside Terrain Park [Darkside Trail] Geared For: The devoted shredder ready to dip into his or her bag of tricks.
