February 16, 2011- Huntington Beach, CA-- Congrats to DC pro snowboarder Torstein Horgmo who won his first Winter Dew Tour Championship in Men's Slopestyle after finishing third at the final Dew Tour stop in Snowbasin, Utah this past weekend.
"My body is ready for some powder landings after these last few weeks," said Torstein Horgmo. "Nicole (Torstein's name for this snowboard) and I had some disagreements during practice, but in the end we were able to figure it out and get lucky enough to get on the podium. It's been a hectic couple of months and to finish the contest season like this amazing. Let's fill this Dew Cup up and let the party begin."
After taking the top spot at the first two stops of Winter Dew Tour, Torstein went into the weekend's competition feeling pretty good and knowing that all he had to do was put up a solid effort and the championship would be his. Still recovering from injuries sustained earlier in the season Torstein laid down a stylish run - a boardslide, Switch back 270 - 270 out, backslide nose press - backside 180 out, cab double cork 1080, to a switch backside 1260. Torstein was also presented with the "Toyota Men's Athlete of the Year Award" for his overall performances at Winter Dew Tour this year.
It's been an amazing season so far for Torstein, who just last month, took home a Gold medal at Winter X Games 15 in Big Air and won Reader's Choice at the 12th Annual Transworld SNOWboarding Riders Poll Awards.
"Torstein has been on a tear this season," said Nate Morley, DC's SVP of Creative and Marketing. "He represents a long tradition of DC athletes performing at the highest level. It's great to see his dedication pay off this way. We couldn't be happier for him."
