Opening Weekend at Grand Targhee Resort – Nov 27th

(Alta, WY – November 23, 2009) Grand Targhee Resort will open the Shoshone Chairlift and the Papoose Conveyor on Friday, November 27.

"While we have received over 80 inches of snow since the end of September, a few weeks of warm weather coupled with the low moisture content of the snow from this last storm cycle prevents us from opening the upper mountain at this time," said General Manager F. Scott Pierpont. "We will open the remainder of our terrain as soon as conditions allow."

Grand Targhee Resort will offer a reduced lift ticket rate of $39 for full day and $33 for half day for access to Shoshone and the Papoose Conveyor. Ski School, Kids Club and our retail shops will operate on a normal schedule. Resort restaurants will operate on the following schedule until further notice:

Snorkels 7:00 am to 2:00 pm daily
Wild Bills 10:00 am to 4:00 pm daily
Trap Bar 11:00 am to 7:00 pm daily
Branding Iron 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm daily
General Store 8:00 am to 5:30 pm daily

Grand Targhee Resort will kick off opening weekend with a Targhee Protect Our Winters party at the Trap Bar on Saturday, November 28, 2009. The party will start at 3:00 pm with a showing of the movie Signatures from Sweetgrass Productions, shot in HD and featuring 100% human powered riding in all snow-sliding styles. After the movie, get your eco-groove on with Salem , a socially conscious hip hop/jazz/reggae influenced band that has been featured on Warren Miller’s “Off the Grid,” at the X-Games and the Jeep King of the Mountain Tour. During the band break the Trap will show Generations, a TGR mini movie about the effects of climate change in the ski industry. We will be announcing some of our new sustainability initiatives, selling mug club memberships and $1 raffle tickets for the 40th anniversary mug, with all proceeds going to Targhee POW!

A Black Friday sale at Habitat will include 10% off retail prices throughout the store and a comp full day lift ticket for the 2009/10 winter season at Grand Targhee Resort with the purchase of any skis or snowboard (Friday only).
