Silverton Mountain Guides Alaska Heli Opens This Friday October 20, 2017 for Heli Skiing & Snowboarding in Seward, AK

October 17, 2017…. With all-time epic early snow conditions in Alaska this year Silverton Mountain Guides is opening nearly two months early and will be open for heli skiing starting this Friday!  The snow has been stacking up since early September at altitude and the base right now is deeper than in March last winter.

After several recon flights in mid-September, Silverton Mountain Guides were amazed to find mid-winter conditions at elevation. The early season snowfall in Alaska had left a 12-15 foot base of snow in the higher zones and now, after weeks of additional steady storm cycles hammering the mountains, sunshine has finally arrived! Silverton Mountain Guides normally opens for the season in November/December, but October heli trips are the ideal way to get the most out of winter since the conditions are prime!

Die hard skiers and snowboarders are always eager for the first turns of the season, and usually end up on a man-made ribbon of snow surrounded by dirt when skiing in October. However the fresh snow and current conditions are some of the best ever encountered and which is a great way to open the 2017-18 Alaska Heli Ski season.

Silverton Mountain Guides Alaska Heli (established in 2008) is a year-round Alaska based business and has bases of operation in Seward, Girdwood, and the Northern Chugach and access a massive amount of terrain including the Tordrillo, Neacola, and Petersbug Mountains.  This provides Silverton Mountain Guides the unique flexibility to avoid weather down days in most instances and are the only heli ski operation anywhere in Alaska that runs regularly scheduled heli trips in the months November, December and January.  Silverton Mountain Guides also provides skiing and surfing trips in the summer months from Seward, AK.  With the fantastic early conditions Silverton Mountain Guides is open for business!
