Québec City, December 11, 2012 – Next year's FIS Snowboard World Championships sees a whole new look for Stairsmasters presented by Tremblay Beer! Following a series of meetings between the organizing committee, Guillaume Brochu—a designer and team member of long standing—and the riders themselves, the snowboard competition at Îlot fleurie will now feature an all new concept showcasing an urban trick video contest.
Stairsmasters – Lights! Camera! Action!
There are two parts to the MOVIE edition of Stairsmasters. First, Guillaume Brochu handpicked 15 big-name athletes as finalists. These athletes have already sent in a video featuring one minute of their best urban snowboard tricks. You can watch the videos on the Stairsmasters microsite after December 14, and until then more information will be available at www.snowjamboree.com.
Second, from December 14, all fans of urban freestlye age 18 and over are invited to send in a video showing us what they're made of! Upload your video to the Snowboard Jamboree FTP site by January 4, 2013. Five competitors in this Open category will move on to the grand final if they collect enough votes from the public between January 7 and 11, 2013.
$10,000 for the most creative athlete!
Out of the 20 finalists (15 pros and 5 from the Open category), a jury will pick the three best videos along with 10 other clips. The 13 videos will be shown around 8 p.m. on January 19, right after the Big Air World Championships in downtown Québec City. Each has a chance of winning the best cameraperson prize provided by Mazda, along with a prize for best integration supplied by Tremblay Beer. The Top 10 clips will be eligible for the Vidéotron prize, with the winner determined by SMS vote on the evening of the vote. The overall winner will be awarded his or her prize of $10,000 on the night!
