Westminster College Hosts First-Ever Rail Jam
Students compete for cash prizes and swag as they showcase their rail-riding skills
SALT LAKE CITY – Approximately 40 Westminster students will have the chance to showcase their rail-riding skills at the college's first-ever Rail Jam on January 7, at noon on the residential green.
Sponsored by the Associated Students of Westminster College and Galvanic Designs, the inaugural Rail Jam will feature Westminster skiers and snowboarders who will compete for top prizes in the men's and women's categories. Contestants will be judged on how well they hit the rail and any tricks they do.
Guest judges have been selected from around the area to score the Westminster riders. Students interested in participating in the contest had to submit a video to Galvanic Designs highlighting their skills to ensure they had what it takes to compete in the Rail Jam.
"We wanted to host this first-ever Rail Jam to capitalize on our students' ski and snowboard skills," explained Alyson Vander Steen, ASWC activities coordinator. "We have some amazing talent at Westminster and our students really don't get to showcase it very often."
Media interested in covering the event should contact Krista DeAngelis at (801) 832-2682. The event will run from noon to 4 p.m. on the residential green in front of the residence halls.
