PistenBully Vehicles to Drive Progression in Terrain Parks and Pipe
Park City, Utah (February 13, 2014) - Woodward, a division of Powdr - a leading mountain resort and action sports camp owner and operator, and Kässbohrer, the worldwide leader in alpine grooming equipment, expanded their commitment to innovation with the announcement of a long-term partnership. As part of the deal, PistenBully's 400 Pro Series will be the official machine of Woodward's mountain centers located at Boreal Mountain Resort and Copper Mountain Resort to build cutting-edge terrain parks and pipes. The partnership will also extend to select Powdr Resorts including Park City Mountain Resort in Utah, Killington Resort in Vermont, and Mt Bachelor Resort in Oregon.
"We are really excited to partner with Woodward to advance the technology and features of the equipment needed to provide the terrain desired by our customers," said Dennis McGiboney, vice president of sales and marketing for Kässbohrer All Terrain Vehicles. "Our cooperation with such a highly motivated company as Woodward ensures the efforts towards youth development will benefit the industry as a whole."
The official partnership is two years in the making as PistenBully has been collaborating with Woodward since December 2011. Boreal/Woodward Tahoe has worked closely with the PistenBully engineering staff in Reno to develop features and contribute ideas for improvements to the PistenBully Pro Series. Continued research and development will be a main focus of the partnership.
PistenBully's innovation, expertise, and understanding of market requirements are a perfect match for Woodward's ongoing progression efforts for winter action sports athletes.
"For over 30 years, Woodward has been committed to furthering the progression of athletes in action sports," said Jody Churich, chief operating officer of Woodward. "The partnership with PistenBully allows us to deliver the same experience we create in our Woodward training facilities on the snow."
Another main goal for the partnership is to work alongside the youth market to build the future of Woodward's parks and pipes. Through an educational program created with Kässbohrer, Woodward will connect kids with PistenBully's technology to drive decisions, design, and development to create the best snow progression environments.
"Ultimately it is the kids that will benefit from this partnership because they will have access to better parks not only at the Woodward properties, but other Powdr resorts," said Eric Rosenwald, youth action sports director at Woodward Tahoe. "This partnership will further the progression of terrain parks and PistenBully's technology will be at the heart of a movement to progress the sports of freestyle snowboarding and skiing."
Public events will be held throughout the season at each location to offer guests an up close look at how terrain parks and pipes are built and maintained.
