Whoever said "when the going gets tough, the tough get going" is full of it. OK, well, If you just finished a large Rotten Ronnies Milkshake and still have the Big Mac to go–fine, be tough and get going, but if you have ever been to SASS Argentina you would know that the "tough," if we want to call it that, are ALWAYS going...not matter what. Lets put it this way, when you come to SASS the most amount of R&R you are going to get is on the plane over here, after that it can be a bit of a shitstorm of good times. The next thing you know, you are at TAGE mow-ing down on your last Superpancho of the trip trying to sell your old smelly boots for $150 dollars, or in Kaitlyn Farrington’s case, you just hang them up on a chair, sign them "Olympic Boots", and be done with it.
SASS Argentina 2014 was graced with so many super athletes this season. It was as if SASS was hosting a post-TTR/Olympic year convention. Scotty Lago, Greg Bretz, Matt Ladley, and their comic relief, Richie Beats were around filming The Lago edits , and to top off the podium, Kaitlyn Farrington, Maddy Shafrick, and Elena Hight were in 100% fun mode, keeping all the clients fully entertained at all times. If you thought we were done with the name-dropping you were wrong, so lets get it out of the way. Chase Josey and Jack Hessler, always hand-in-hand boosting; Chad Otterstrom quietly leading camping missions with Chris Coulter and Skylar Holgate on the Andes mountain tops; and Hana Beaman rounding out that epic girls crew. OK we are done here, but you get the gist of it, it was a total fan out.
Right then, back to the "going" bit. Although South America decided to hold out on us for a bit on the powder front, that never stopped the fun and the shredding. Equipped with a full quiver of Jones splitboards, the intro to the backcountry was stronger that it has ever been. The amazing thing about high pressure (sun) is that we can give everyone the chance to give splitboarding a try and we can get to the spots that would normally be steel-legs only zones. SASS goes no matter what and we don't need to make lemonade from lemons, ’cause it’s always awesome and there is Fernet! Another one for the books, and another one for the 2015 summer calendar...
