On Friday, September 25th, evo Portland played host to the Oregon premiere of The SNOWBOARDER Movie: SFD. As a welcoming fall chill filled the city air, Portland’s local riders, industry veterans and snowboarding enthusiasts filed into the retail space to get a firsthand view of SFD on the big screen. SFD‘s Forest Bailey, Curtis Ciszek, Bryan Fox, and Jamie Lynn were on hand, as well as Director Trent Ludgwig and filmer/editor, Jon Ray. Carson Schubert, who recently moved back to Oregon to run marketing for PDX pizza phenomenon, Sizzle Pie, provides plenty of slices for the snow-hungry crowd, making for a premiere that was not only a visual feast, but satisfying for the stomach, too. Additionally, SNOWBOARDER’s Mike Yoshida had worked with evo to set up a gallery of SFD prints, offering an additional look at the filming of the movie and an opportunity for premiere-goers to purchase their own piece of The SNOWBOARDER Movie.
Portland is a great place to premiere a snow flick, as the denizens of the Rose City have a palpable infatuation with snowboarding. There’s so much support within the tight knit community in this city. As SFD‘s opening credits rolled and Bryan Fox’s intro filled the screen, whoops and hollers started and the crowd didn’t quiet long after until Jake Welch had landed his final trick. As the crowd filtered out of evo and into the streets, friends hopped in cars and on bikes to congregate at watering holes to toast a season past well-spent and a new winter just around the corner.
