Snowboarding always likes riders that do it their way, and our #2 Women’s Rider of the Year, Robin Van Gyn, is no exception. For years, Robin has been charging pillows and pillaging powder up in British Columbia and she’s been simply having a blast doing it, but last winter, coupling up with girls like Hana Beaman, Leanne Pelosi, Helen Schettini, Marie France-Roy, Jamie Anderson and more, Robin switched gears in to a new level of riding rarely seen by anyone in recent memory. Basically, Robin fucking charged. And stomped. IN their new release, Full Moon, Robin tackled some of the heftiest terrain we’ve ever seen and the judging panel took notice and rewarded her for stepping up and producing one of the best video parts of the year. Norwegian powerhouse Andreas Wiig took notes while watching her part and gave Robin a vote, stating, “I was super impressed with Robin this year. She charges down gnarly lines in her part and you can tell that she is in perfect control the whole time,” while multi-time Women’s Rider of the Year and leading light to many of the Full Moon gals, Leanne Pelosi, witnessed much of Robin’s riding first-hand and had this to say: “Robin always charges and it was evident she truly showcases her potential riding big lines and getting freestyle. She’s super powerful and I look forward in the years to come to see her progress.” It’s clear that snowboarding isn’t just a job to Robin, as she spends her time away from the camera guiding at Baldface Lodge and bouncing around BC chasing snow. She’s a diehard, and that translates in her riding, and we at SNOWBOARDER couldn’t be more proud to name her the second best women’s rider of 2017. Congratulations, Robin! Keep doing you and it’ll pay off. It certainly did this year.
