"She pretty much won the Olympics with her eyes closed! And we all knew she would. Her talent is incredible. She’s so fun to watch." - Marie-France Roy
"Hands down the most ripping lady."
- Chris Engelsman
Jamie Anderson is the most dominant female slopestyle rider of all time. There, we said it. Within the X Games realm, Jamie, with nine, has won 33% more medals than her nearest rival and when it comes to matching her Olympic accomplishments, well, no one else can even be considered. Saskatchewan’s favorite son Mark McMorris, who can hardly be considered a slopestyle slouch himself, said of Jamie, "She's the best women’s snowboarder, hands down."
Little more than a decade after she first raced onto the global contest scene as a boardercrosser from South Lake Tahoe, CA Jamie’s free spirited ways and freestyle acumen have consistently made her the one the one to watch in women’s slopestyle. Though Jamie is the perfect product of opportunity and talent, it is her consistency that has set her apart. Strategically focusing on exactly what it takes to win has kept Jamie in her comfort zone. Meanwhile, Jamie’s peers routinely risk it all—often to folly—ultimately failing to usurp her authority. Whether you call it cruising or cunning, there is no mistaking that this formula works.
With her victory in women’s slopestyle at its Olympic debut, Jamie transcended our sport to become not simply a darling of those who spend the winter season standing sideways, but also of the country she represented so well. Once Anderson ascended the Olympic podium the mainstream came calling and with it a whirlwind of appearances and opportunities including uncovering herself for the cover of the ESPN Body Issue. Then came perhaps the hairiest situation Jamie has ever found herself in, on or off snow, when she was faced with staring down "The Donald" and his hairpiece as a member of the Celebrity Apprentice ensemble. Though Anderson didn’t fare as well in the boardroom as she does on a board in the white room, she returned to Aspen in time to add another piece of X Games ore to her trophy case and take another step closer to becoming the legend she is destined to be.
