Last week the DC Snowboarding team crewed up in Huntington Beach to head northeast for Mammoth Mountain’s renowned opening weekend, honoring one of the most revered traditions of the winter season: the road trip rally to the hills. The posse assembled from all corners: Iikka Backstrom, Torstein Horgmo, Anto Chamberland, Jordan Morse and Brady Lem, along with DC Marketing Director Bobby Meeks piled their gear into the DC RV and pointed it toward 395. A session at The Berrics while still in SoCal kicked things off and an unexpected pit stop just north of Mojave ushered in more wintery temps as night fell in the desert. With help of two mechanics who pulled up in a beat up truck and the wherewithal of Anto, the DC team made it to Mammoth just a few hours before the lifts started turning on Chair 1. The season was on. For the next four days the crew sessioned the early season Unbound park, sussed out sidehits and even found some fresh. Here’s a look at what went down for the DC boys as they welcomed winter in the Eastern Sierras. For more, follow @dc_snowboarding and check out #DCxRoguetoMammoth.
