It’s hard to believe that it’s been ten years since longstanding and influential board company Lib Technologies introduced the iconic Skate Banana. A snowboard that combines the playful ease of between-the-bindings rocker with intense edge control, the Skate Banana has been a vehicle of on hill destruction since its inception. Celebrate the decade anniversary of this archetypal snowboard by watching some of the finest boarders in the world rip. Presenting Lib Tech’s Skate Banana: The Movie, featuring Mike Olson, Pete Saari, Phil Hansen, Ted Borland, Dave Marx, Brandon Reis and Jesse Burtner, charging from top to bottom, open to close, and sidehit to tranny and everything in between on the Lib Skate Banana.

From Lib Tech:

It’s been ten years since the minds of Mervin Mfg. literally turned snowboarding upside down by introducing the Lib Tech Skate Banana. Lib Tech founders Mike Olson and Pete Saari were never satisfied with the camber profiles borrowed from the ski industry, they knew there was a better way to transfer power to the sideways standing carver than traditional ski camber. Mike’s tampering with reverse cambers started as early as 1986 but didn’t truly come to life until 20 year’s later with the help of Lib Tech engineers Cobb and Pos as the highly refined and painstakingly imagined Skate Banana. We’ve captured a bit of the story here in Skate Banana The Movie. Ten years later we got some OGs and some young guns together at The Summit At Snoqualmie to shred slushy laps and talk about the board that changed snowboarding for them. Featuring new and old footage and interviews with everyone from Mike Olson to Ted Borland. Check out the video and the new 10 year Anniversary Skate Banana line including a reissue of the original Banana now. The last ten years have been epic and the next ten are going to be BANANAS!
