Red Gerard Rippey Flips into the 2018 Winter Olympics in Aspen Snowmass
Rippey flip? Check. 10% rule? Check. Plane ticket to South Korea? Check. Red Gerard put down one hell of a run to clinch a spot on the U.S. Team for the 2018 Winter Olympics and then we heard he picked up the tab for a celebratory dinner right after. Good on ya’ Red! Congrats on the win!
We called him up for a quick blurb on what he was thinking after he landed his second jump…
“First off, just want to say the Snowmass park crew… those guys are so dope. Best around. As far as the Rippey Flip, the second jump was pretty small for a back triple, so I was so psyched that I landed… then I thought I should just let a Rippey Flip rip,” – Red Gerard.
The U.S. Slopestyle team has now started to take shape as Red Gerard and Chris Corning have mathematically clinched spots to the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea. Look for coverage from this upcoming weekend at Mammoth Mountain as the final Qualifier gets underway with Brock Crouch, Chandler Hunt, Brandon Davis, Nik Baden, Ryan Stassel, Eric Willet, and more battling it out for the final few spots.
