Two facts to know right off the bat. First, if one of the possible names for an event is Lips and Assholes, chances are it is going to be pretty loose. Second, if Scott Blum calls you up with an invitation to anything, don’t turn it down.
Ultimately deciding on the more safe for work event name, Show of Hands was a three day long session planned and put on by @blottscum AKA Scott Blum at Mammoth Mountain in mid-April. With the help of TJ Dawoud, the Mammoth Unbound crew, and an invite-only rider list, Blum and company built a hike-only transition park complete with berms, coping, hips, volcanoes, quarterpipes, and of course, a full bowl.
Fittingly located between chairs 4 and 20, the spot was prime for planting, slashing, grilling, and getting as high in the air as riders wanted.
Needless to say, the Mammoth session went off. With an endless option of lines and hits, the crew hiked the tucked-away park until the mountain closed each day. Consisting of Lucas Magoon, Tonya Magoon, Harrison Gordon, Keegan Valaika, Sam Rowse, Stefi Luxton, Desiree Melancon, Pat Bridges, Jill Perkins, Ryan March, Jake Langston, Tyler Flanagan, Ryan Pluche, Danny Salazar, Justin Keniston, Jaeger Bailey, Marc O’Malley, Jeremy Page, Blake Kehoe, and Butters amongst the attendees, it would be hard to imagine a more creative group to dissect all of the hand-shaped features.
Sessions popped off on just about every inch of the rideable terrain.
With all of the different styles on display, everyone had a blast. It might be the only gathering in the world were the loose mastery of Lucas Magoon is followed immediately up with the dialed acrobatics of Jaeger Bailey in the same session. Huge thanks to Scott for the invite and the Magoons for grilling on hill in between hits!
Can’t wait to hike it all again next year!
