Snowboarder Wins Gold in Skiing Event at 2018 Winter Olympics

You can talk about the skiing vs snowboarding debate until the cows come home, but 22-year-old snowboarder Ester Ledecka of the Czech Republic just kind of buttoned up the snowboarding side of the argument with a gold medal in the women’s skiing Super-G race against Lindsey Vonn and the OLYMPIC field of competitors in South Korea. As one of our favorite stories coming from the 2018 Winter Olympics, Ledecka is the first athlete to ever compete in both skiing and snowboarding at the Olympics, and came into the 2018 games from a snowboarding background including world titles and multiple podiums. Sitting in 26th place, she dropped in a pair of borrowed skis from USA’s Mikaela Shiffrin, and took the top spot by .01 of a second. Talk about just doing enough to get by. Thanks for giving us ammo in every argument for the rest of time! We are pulling for you in your next ski race, and we will definitely watch it now!
